A recent study by a team of researchers at the Florida International University in Miami has suggested that the black diamonds were brought to earth by an asteroid, about billions of years ago. They believe that this asteroid had crash landed in Africa and Brazil billions of years ago.

Hmm, lets se if I can explain the science behind black diamond to you properly: The black diamonds actually show a plethora of many hydrogen carbon bonds which actually show that they had been formed and produced in an environment which is rich in hydrogen, such as outer space. These black diamonds are also quite similar to the nano-diamonds which have actually been found in meteorites. Another piece of evidence is the gas bubbles which can be found inside the black diamonds. These gas bubbles could not have been formed deep within the earth’s crust as this is where the conventional diamonds are formed. But, this theory is not al all devoid of controversy and there are many other scientists who have various different theories to explain the origin of the black diamond ring, and these theories don’t really include the outer space. The origin and the birth of carbonados have been a subject of confusion and mystery for scientists because they don’t follow the various rules of diamond mineralogy, and they are not found in the places where the normal and conventional diamonds are usually found.

The black diamonds are called carbonado or "black" diamonds, there are other worldly stones which are said to be the color of charcoal or even melted glass and are also known to be full of bubbles. These can actually weigh a lot, up to about thousands of carats and can be found in many different colors and even shades, ranging from black to grey. They are often found in the shape of irregular fragments and have various textures ranging from being compact to being porous. They are often flawed on the surface and there are only a few pieces which can be polished and then used to make jewelry.
